कथापरिचय :

जगातील अस्पर्शित,सर्वात मोठी,दुर्गम अशा गुहा व त्यातून वाहणारा  जलप्रवाह शेवटी कोठे जावून समुद्रास मिळतो याच्या  शोधमोहिमेवर अनुभवी अशा पाणबुडे संशोधकांची तुकडी  निघालेली आहे.अशावेळी अनपेक्षित असा भीषण वादळामुळे भीषण जलवृष्टी होवून ते सर्वजण पाण्याच्या अजस्त्र लोंढ्याबरोबर  अनोळखी अशा गुहेच्या अंतर्भागी ढकलले जातात. दूर कोठेतरी समुद्रात हा मार्ग उघडेल  या आशेवर संपत आलेल्या काही  ऑक्सीजन सिलिंडर्सच्या  मदतीने हे दुर्दैवी जीव काहीही माहित नसलेल्या दुर्गम गुहांतील  पाण्याबरोबर मार्ग काढीत चालले आहेत .त्यांना अंतिम मार्ग सापडेल की ते मुख्य संशोधकाच्या मृत्यूमुळे अजून मरणाच्या दारी जातील?  

परीक्षण  : जेम्स  कॅमेरून चा चित्रपट असला तरी तो प्रथमपासून शेवटपर्यंत प्रेक्षकांचे श्वास रोखून धरीन अशी कामगिरी करण्यास असमर्थ ठरला आहे .चित्रपटातील पात्रांबद्दल जास्त आपुलकी न वाटता केवळ सहानुभूती वाटत राहते.प्रेक्षक मनाने त्या थरारक घडामोडींत गुंतत नाहीत.चित्रपटाचे छायाचित्रण सुंदर आहे. मात्र चित्रपट प्रेक्षकांना अगदीच निराश करत नाही.उत्तरार्धात चित्रपट वेगवान असून प्रेक्षकांना पडद्यावर गुंतवून ठेवतो. 

अभिप्राय(चांगला,मध्यम, बरा):मध्यम. . सर्वांसाठी
लैंगिकता व नग्नता: अति गारठलेल्या मैत्रिणीला ऊब देण्यासाठी तिच्या बरोबर स्वत:ला ब्लान्केट मध्ये गुंडाळून घेण्याचा एक प्रसंग आहे. पण त्यात काही आक्षेपार्ह नाही.
हिंसाचार: सौम्य.

An underwater cave diving team unexpectedly forced to experience a life-threatening crisis during an expedition to Esa-Ala, one of the most treacherous and unexplored cave systems in the South Pacific.Will they survive or not?

     Alister Grierson shows the struggle between man and nature.Underwater cave diver Frank McGuire (Richard Roxburgh) has explored the South Pacific's Esa-ala Caves for months.When he was with his team and his 17 years old son Josh (Rhys Wakefield) and financier Carl Hurley (Ioan Gruffudd),an unexpected storm changed their mission from exploration to survival.Though this is a James Cameron film,it is failed to involve viewers to watch it from start to end.It doesn't come close to Avatar or Abyss.But there are some breathtaking scenes. Sanctum doesn't disappoint us because of its beautiful photography and the whole life saving journey of man against nature.

Parents Guide for Sanctum: 

Sex & Nudity: In one scene you can see Josh McGuire's butt , but doesn't mean any sexuallity.

Violence & Gore: One man suddenly attacks another, he pushes his back into a spiky portin of rock.Finally he dies because of this.

Most of the characters' bodies are found in the water in this movie. You can see some badly injured bodies with blood on their faces. 

Profanity: Lots of F-words.
uses of many  s-word.1 Mother F***er. 

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Some casual drinking & smoking. 

Frightening/Intense Scenes: This film is very intense as there are a lot of intense death scenes.
